Life in Winnipeg if about multitude of things. Let’s get the obvious out of the way. It’s about the winters, first and foremost. Yes, thats what you may have heard from anyone who talks about Winnipeg. The six month winter, the slippery roads and the three feet of snow.
But Winnipeg is much more than that. It’s about the bars and food scene. The mall culture and the slurpee craze. The startups and big dreamers. Overall, Winnipeg is about the culture, and its people.
Never have I seen people who are so passionate about building a brand and living a good life. It’s true that most people want the best out of their life. but Winnipegers never lose sight of whats important. Maybe it’s braving the harsh winter that gives them an appreciation for what life can be. Or maybe it’s the short beautiful summers that makes them fall in love with what they already have. And thats what makes Winnipeg very special.
This blog is dedicated to them. The people shovelling the sidewalks so that others can have it easy. The workers who are clearing the roads so that the city can be safer. It’s about the smiling baristas at 6 am and the flirty waitresses at 11pm. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying Winnipeg is some sort of cultural capital of Canada. But what I am saying is that this city is unique in its own way. It has its own cultures and traditions. And in this blog, me and my fellow writers will do our best to build an online journal of what this city is really about. We will cover a broad spectrum of topics, and we wont shy away from controversies.
To all the fellow Winnipegers who read this blog, we will do our best to represent this city in words. To the rest of the world, prepare to fall in love with one of the most unique cities in the world.
