Buy them, wear them, love them. If you’re anything like me, sneakers are more than just a staple or an accessory to your outfit. To some sneakers tell a story, whether it was camping out of your sneaker shop waiting for a pair to drop or hitting the last shot in a game in the cleanest kicks on the court. These people are usually called “Sneakerheads”, with that being said… Hi, I’m Lance Butterfuco and I’m a Sneakerhead.
Sole Exchange Canada held The Ultimate Sneaker Show at the RBC Convention Centre in downtown Winnipeg, MB. As a Sneakerhead this was the first sneaker related expo I’ve attended and it won’t be the last. Local + out of town vendors rented a table and stacked it with HEAT on HEAT on HEAT. From sneakers to vintage clothing, DJ with the vibes *proper*, contests to win a pair of J’s and more. I was impressed to see the sneaker culture that exist in Winnipeg all together in one room. And trust me it was impressive. As I walked around, admiring the clean sneakers on the tables. I left with a pair of the Jordan 1 Retro High Gatorade Blue Lagoons from Winnipeg’s very own @tomstefaniuk and @streetcredcanada’s Long Sleeve Tee; another local brand growing and doing their thing out of Winnipeg. Big Ups to @streetcredcanada as all the proceeds from these Long Sleeve Tee’s are donated to the @kidshelpphone!
If I were to complain about one thing it would be the temperature of the room, this may be silly but I did a few laps, grabbed my goodies and went home to admire them in my beautiful A/C cooled apartment. Like I said, I’m a sneakerhead and I’m glad I decided to check out this event. Thank you to the vendors I bought from and for all the others who filled up the space. Sole Exchange Canada, who knows, if my collection grows enough maybe I’ll need a table of my own. Until then, if you need me I’ll be scrolling through StockX’s app possibly buying sneakers I definitely do not need… but it’s all a part of being a sneakerhead.
